The Crypt 1331www.TheCrypt1331.com

There is a new boss in town; Aeriel J has officially launched The Crypt 1331 and it is about to hit the Horror and Metal scene like a bomb, or more accurately, a bombshell. Tio Trash has been very lucky to have collaborated with Aeriel J as a featured model and creative partner since the birth of Tio Trash. With her modeling in the past, she is now running a game of her own, the founder and owner of The Crypt 1331.

Aeriel, in her baby Tio Trash days :)

Aeriel, in her baby Tio Trash days 🙂

The Crypt 1331 is as it states, “Dedicated to bringing you the latest in horror and heavy metal news through documentaries, articles, and submission based content. For the creeps and geeks who appreciate the darker side of life.”

What does that mean? It is a badass website and lifestyle brand that delivers all of the latest news and reviews on all things horror and metal with a dose of that Aeriel J sass and wit. With a team of talented writers, partners, and featured artists, this site is overflowing with everything that every creeper needs to know! And for you visual people, The Crypt TV is a great way to get all of the Crypt coverage live on the scene from Aeriel herself. Coming next? Crypt 1331 clothing, art, convention appearances and pretty much coast to coast domination.

After quite a run in Chicago, I am moving Tio Trash to South Carolina and Aeriel J is taking The Crypt 1331 to Vegas in just a few short weeks. To celebrate our collaborations, friendships and a farewell to Chicago, The Crypt 1331 made its’ first horror convention appearance at Flashback Weekend Chicago. For the live launch of the brand, The Crypt 1331 graciously hosted Tio Trash and make up artist, Eye Bleed Glitter (my girl Betty G, who has also done lot’s of make up and hair for Tio Trash) to join 1331’s forces and have a final collaboration together before we spread out across the country!

Needless to say, it was a great time and a great success. Aeriel J made visions come to life with all of her hard work and brilliant planning. I was so honored to be able to sell some Tio Trash goodies under The Crypt 1331 while Eye Bleed Glitter showed Chicago her amazing special effects make up skills!

The Crypt 1331 launched its first T-Shirt line with designs featuring the 1331 logo and a limited edition design by featured artist, Cryptworm. These shirts will soon be available online, and if you are a 1331 fan, or a fan of awesome shirts in general, you are going to want to get one (many sizes and styles available).

Nothing else could be greater for an up and coming make up artist than to be located directly next to J. Anthony Kosar, Face Off Season 4 winner, Special FX all star and instructor at Kosart Atelier School for entertainment arts. Betty was able to snag some tips and tricks from the best in the biz and it was a treat for all of us to get to chat with the folks from Kosart Atelier!

The weekend was full of fun surprises and chances to meet awesome and creative people! Getting to know the folks of Lunatick Cosmetic Labs was exciting for all three of us make up junkies; the colors, the packaging, the quality, its everything a creepy girl could ask for!

Perhaps one of the greatest show moments was when horror icon, Svengoolie himself, asked The Crypt 1331 for an interview for his show! Meeting him alone was beyond awesome and the interview was such a cool experience! Stay tuned for The Crypt 1331 on the Svengoolie show (Saturdays – 9:00 PM on ME TV)!

It was an amazing weekend spend with these wonderful ladies. I feel so lucky that Chicago brought us together through common interests and in building our brands. We might be spreading out, but the Dream Team is for life! Its nice to have hard working, talented, creative badass women in my life that I can call true friends and teammates. Make sure to check out The Crypt 1331 and follow the crazy ride as Aeriel J conquers Vegas! Chicago gets to keep miss Betty for now, so make sure to check in with Eye Bleed Glitter for all of your gore and glam make up needs! Eye Bleed Glitter is also a featured make up artist of The Crypt 1331, check out this video by Aeriel J for The Crypt TV!

Thank you so much to my girls for all of the opportunities and experiences we have shared together! I love you both for life! Signature

Holiday Style

Can it be that Christmas 2013 has come and gone so quickly? Indeed, it has! I hope all of my fellow Trashionistas are able to unwind from good eating, happy times, and fabulous gifts, I know I can!

While your Christmas hangovers begin and real life creeps back in, I want to share with you one final Holiday story. This is a story of an adorable little Christmas doll, otherwise known as Chicago model, Satanás Castro, who got dolled up for Tio Trash in a fabulous holiday photo shoot!

The windows of the Social Media fashion world are recently a buzz with a new phenomenon; Korean made baby doll dresses, frilly coats, and girl fashion delights. The images we have seen have gone viral and can be found from a multitude of vendors at often  affordable prices.

Look familiar?

Sample from TideBuy.com

Sample from TideBuy.com

If you have an Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest or Tumblr, than I am guessing you have seen ads for dresses like these.

Feminine, frilly and delicate, I too found myself deep in the Korean abyss of one such distributor, TideBuy.com. This is a great site and the prices go up and down almost daily, so keep watch for hot deals! A slew of adorable dresses arrived into my open arms in a very timely fashion. All you need to know about this clothing is that you should order a size or 2 larger than you normally would, and don’t except “high” quality dresses. Come on, these are budget friendly novelty goods, they work great for what you need them for, but don’t expect designer quality.

All of the dresses I received made me think of Lana Del Rey, Lolita style, “baby dolls”, or all of the above. My Trash wheels got to turning and my love for the Chucky franchise merged with a magical Christmas feeling and thus I created, the Holiday Baby Doll look book!

Chicago model Satanás Castro was literally “dolled” up by Tio Trash make up artist, Mondana Vaziri and we turned the beautiful Palmer House Hilton hotel into our own medley of “Babes in Toyland” meets “The Shining”, and the results were beautiful!

Korean Dresses

A “twin-less” tribute to The Shining, Satanas dons the elegant hallways of the historic Palmer House Hilton Hotel in an ivory white dress from TideBuy.com. This is a soft satin blend baby doll dress with lace details and a small belt.

Korean Dress

This dress looked adorable with almost any color tights I paired it with. My favorite look however, was the harsh contrast of the black lace tights and a simple black ankle boot. The handbag is a 1950s vintage piece from Etsy Shop, “Not Over It Vintage”. In addition to the pearly purse, I used a choker style, vintage pearl necklace (circa 1960s) from Etsy Shop, “Lorenzo Mele“. There is some light gold threading in the lace detail of the dress so I used a pair of art deco style gold earrings to complete the accessories.

All Dolled Up.

All Dolled Up.

This dress can be dressed up as shown, but also looks fantastic with bare legs and flats for the Spring/Summer months, definitely something I could see Miss Del Rey wearing. Because of the timeless simplicity of the dress, you can get away with using any era or style of jewelry, as shown here.

Doll Make Up

The ivory dress and that porcelain skin are just the match for making this baby doll dress perfect for this real life doll look!

Candy Land

Christmas may have Halloween beat when it comes to sweet treats and candy filled dreams. From Gingerbread houses to candy canes, Sugar Plum fairies to chocolate Santa’s; Christmas time is a time to serve that sweet tooth!

Korean Dresses

This candy pink dress brings out all of the feelings you had as a young girl on Christmas morning. Nothing could make it sweeter than a little bit of candy. In this case, my beloved Betsey Johnson Gummy Bear set (ring + necklace).

Betsey Johnson Gummy Bears

Available in many different styles and pieces!

"Mama!"

“Mama!”

Forget “Elf on a Shelf”, this baby doll look is MUCH more fun! This dress also looks great with all different colored tights and accessories. Fun flirty printed tights are a good match for a dress like this, but the gray tights and the simple nude kitten heels added an element of warmth to this light and frilly feeling.

Korean Dresses

Blending with the beauty of the beautiful and famous foyer of the Palmer House Hilton Hotel (Chicago).

The thick pearl detail on the collar of this dress give the dress the ability to use very little jewelry, I however continued to add the Gummy Bear necklace, fun large gold earrings, and several sweet rings to really dec it out.

Korean Dress

Sweet!

Christmas Doll

Korean Dress

What could be griller than polka dots and pearls? This black velvet polka dot dress is sweet and sassy, everything that girls are made of! The rich velvet and ivory lace collar of the dress make it a perfect holiday fashion choice. It’s warm, playful and can be accessorized in infinite ways!

Korean Dress

Once again, this dress worked well with many different styles and colored tights. I thought the black thigh high stockings with the bow added just a little bit of “naughty” to this nice and innocent ensemble. I kept the shoes simple and decided to have my fun with the jewelry!

Why so sad, Satana? Im sure you made it on Santa's "Nice" list ... lol.

Why so sad, Satana? Im sure you made it on Santa’s “Nice” list … lol.

Girls wish for all kinds of presents every Christmas. Little girls dream of ponies and dolls, and big girls dream of diamonds, pearls and Chanel. Playing up on this idea, I wanted to use gaudy pink plastic jewelry to contrast the “prim and proper” classic look of the polkadots and pearls. The plastic mock Chanel earrings are from a neighborhood favorite shop, Ragstock (Chicago) and the pink pegasus ring is available from Etsy Shop, “Miss Friday Mourning“.

Awww, a little lost doll!

Awww, a little lost doll!

Wandering the corridors of the Palmer House Hilton Hotel, this little doll is just looking for a home this Christmas …

Nautical Gifts

Korean DressThis little black dress immediately reminded me of a little sailor outfit! Gold nautical accessories are fun year round and a perfect complement to this dress! To keep the Christmas holiday present in the nautical theme, I added a pair of red plaid Christmas colored tights, thick wool leg warmers, and a knit beanie to top it off.

Korean DressesSomeone must have been an angel this year with that pile of presents!

Korean DressesBecause of the sheer and light material of this dress, layering the leg wear is necessary to pull it off in a Chicago winter. Knit scarves, hats, and leg warmers add texture to this dress for a warmer feel.

The final touch of Christmas magic!

The final touch of Christmas magic!

As you can see, there are so many ways to take these popular dresses, and make them your own! Due to the popularity of these Korean treasures,  millions of girls will  have the same dresses, but there is no reason you can’t be one of a kind in the way you wear it! I chose to style these dresses with a winter holiday sparkle, but I would love to see lot’s of other ideas as well!

If you can’t resist the urge to get on board the “Korean baby doll dress” train, I personally had a great experience with TideBuy.com. Remember to watch for flash sales, go for a larger size, and be realistic about the quality expectations. These are super trendy and hot items, so there is no need to spend a fortune or expect eternal strength quality on this fad.

Although Christmas is over, if you are looking for a fun way to spend a little Christmas money, I suggest splurging on a Korean baby doll dress of your own, and styling it in your own unique way!

I hope all had a very Merry Christmas and wonderful holiday season!

Stay trashy, my dolls!

After only one round of practice (on MY face), she nailed this look and brought the doll look to life! Special thanks to her creative assistance and directing as well in making these wonderful images on set!

Venue:

The Palmer House Hilton Chicago has been my favorite hotel since I was a little girl. My parents were once married here and it has been a favorite family stay for as long as I can remember. This hotel always feels magical, but no place in Chicago does Christmas like the Palmer House. It graciously served as the perfect “Doll House” as well! Much love!

Creepy Dolls

There are few things creepier than an old (antique) porcelain doll; death frozen on her face, secrets sealed behind her glassy eyes. Strange and beautiful, this little creature remains as cold as death, but seems to have a life of it’s own …

Inspired by a combination of  “Lolita” style dresses, lace, little lost ghost girls, and looks by Lana Del Rey, I created a chilling look for October, the month where the veil between our world and the other world is the thinnest. Follow these simple ideas to create a “deathly doll” look that will linger with every step you take.

Lana Del Rey Make Up

Lively Tio Trash model, Jasmine, underwent a ghostly make over to become a perfect deathly doll. To get this ghostly complexion, I powdered her face in white  and used “mauvey” eyeshadows to contour. For her deep set eyes, I recreated an exaggerated version of Lana Del Rey’s haunting signature eye make up; nude base, dark crease, thick liner, and long lashes.

Lana Del Rey Make Up

White is always a ghostly color, by adding vintage style “pearl” cross necklace and earrings (from Forever 21), you can add a timeless touch to any simple frock.

To begin our adventure, I wanted to select the perfect cemetery to conduct this shoot. In my very own neighborhood, we found the famous Graceland Cemetery. This 190 acre cemetery was established in 1860 and is now the home of many Chicago legends, as well as wandering souls. After learning that Graceland cemetery is named one of the top haunted locations of Chicago, we wanted to be as respectful as we could be during our shoot, but I wasn’t surprised to stir up some activity. We thank the Graceland Cemetery, and it’s “residents” for hosting Tio Trash, on this sinister shoot.

For very interesting history and information on the Graceland Cemetery, CLICK HERE.

Death Quote

Lana Del Rey Make Up

In a soft pink baby doll dress from H&M, Jasmine prances through the Graceland Cemetery, looking like a lost little girl, playing between two worlds. Baby doll dresses are appearing in all colors, but you should dig from a dim and neutral palette to achieve  ghostly glamour; cream, beige, ivory, light pink, etc.

Lana Del Rey Make Up

Cameos, pearls and rusty gold make the best accessories for a haunting look. If you do not have access to any old antiques or vintage jewelry of your own, all of your modern day jewelry suppliers, like Forever 21 and Charming Charlie’s are keeping cameos and other old favorites alive.

Lana Del Rey Make Up

I chose to pair this dress with brown combat boots, fully laced up to add an “eternal youth” to the look, rather than an adult sophistication that heels would bring. The laced up boots make the appearance more “doll like”. To dress this up, ankle boots with small heels or Mary Janes with small heels would add the timeless and youthful elements to this ghostly get up.

Lana Del Rey Make Up

Death Quote

Lana Del Rey Make Up

She sleeps, though not forever.

Because Chicago Octobers can have weather that flip flops between summer and winter temps, wool tights or knee socks are the choice way to warm up this dress for the chilliest October nights.

Death Quotes Chicago Ghost

Jasmine poses, like a wavering spirit atop a beautiful mausoleum deep inside Graceland Cemetery.

Wednesday Adams

One of the most iconic dolls of death, is the beloved Wednesday Adams character. I wanted to created a playful innocent look, a sort of  Catholic “School Ghoul” (hahaha).  For the school girl look, knee socks will always to the trick.

Wednesday Adams

This black and white shift dress, which I fondly refer to as my “nun dress”, was an amazing Target find. If you don’t care for the shapeless cut, do the ol’ belt trick to add the desired waist line. I chose to use a white belt in order to create a pop, while keeping color to a minimum.

Wednesday Adams

I adore the plainness and simplicity of the dress, only because it allows me to dress it up myself.  A co-worker of mine brought me back this exquisite spiked “collar necklace” from a trip to Hungary, but you can find this trend almost anywhere. The collar necklace is perfect for a plain shapeless dress like this one to bring it to life ( … no pun intended).

Wednesday Adams

To accessorize, I paired the dress with my spiked shoes (a Buffalo Exchange find), a spiked cuff, a cameo ring, black rose earrings (all from Forever 21), the adorable “Game Over” ring from the fabulous, Atomic Lace and the most deliciously creepy human molar ring from Etsy (purchased so long ago, I no lover know the shop name).

Orbs

“Hey, get off my grave!” – Orbs

While posing next to this beautiful ivy covered stone, Jasmine could not get comfortable for a shot. Getting goosebumbs and an uneasy feeling, we gave up on capturing this strange stone. It wasn’t until I loaded the photos that her reactions made sense to me! Below the obvious lens flare, two little orbs are making a Tio Trash debut.  We don’t know the story of this plot, or whether or not we were welcomed, but it’s clear that we stirred up some life throughout the day, and the orbs made great models!

Obviously, Jasmine was a better model, especially for being such a good sport about all of these creepy interactions with the plots!

Wednesday Adams

Another shot of the beautiful mausoleum.

Death Quote

Orb Photo

The dearly departed, J.K. Steward hosted the photos for our last look at his grand and strong mausoleum, a sign of importance and wealth.

Orb Photo

This delicate ivory lace dress is actually a 2 piece vintage wedding dress. Little lace dresses are easy to find right now thanks in part to Lana Del Rey; I have found several at H&M this season. If you can get your hands on some antique or vintage lace, it is all the better. The color and the ruffled collar were deathly perfection for putting together a porcelain doll look.

Orb Photo

I stifled the richness of the lace and the silk with harsh and stiff black pieces; the vest and the combat boots. Although the dress is beautiful on its’ own, I did not want to create a “zombie bride” look, but rather a structured outfit that belongs to no era in particular.

Orb Photo

Because of the busy textures and layering, not a lot of jewelry was needed for this. As morbid as the outfit is, I added a stroke of humor and irony in the plastic clock ring (Buffalo Exchange) and the S&M necklace from Miss May’s Creations (Etsy).

Orb photo

And what do we have in the top left corner of the mausoleum? Bad lighting? Fog? Or perhaps, J.K. Stewart himself … ?

Dead Girl

Death Quote I believe that  Jasmine and myself, have proven Loni Anderson very wrong! I rest my case … in peace.

Millions of thank you’s to the beautiful, Jasmine, for delivering another amazing shoot! You know this girl can pull it all off when she can make death look so stunning and elegant. Not to mention, I almost got her locked in the cemetery all night … yes, we had quite the adventure!

Chicago Fan Girl! #Bears #Bulls #Blackhawks Oh My!

27 Aug

The Alternative Fan Girl

Chicago, like most major cities, is a great place to fall head over heels for your favorite sports teams! Many Chicago girls are die hard sports fans. Most girls love the game, and even if you don’t, we all love the cult like party scene that follows Chicago sports teams at the bars and the venues themselves. Chicago sports are a huge part of socialization in the city life, and with every big cultural staple comes the opportunity to make a FASHION STATEMENT.

If you happen to be a baseball girl, rooting for the Sox or the Cubs, baseball games are a fun way to get tipsy in the summer sun. Bears fan? Time to get your party on at the Tailgate whether you have tickets to the game or not, but bundle up! Bulls, get ready to bring your street style to the United Center for some nail biting suspense. And like most Chicago girls, you are probably a Blackhawks fan, dressing it up like it’s date night.  For female sports fans nation wide, the fashion world has merged with our favorite teams and girls have been creating and rocking looks that have become almost uniform for each team. I love that fashion and sports have joined forces in main stream fashion, the only problem? There is a a major lack of originality and creativity in female sports fashion, especially for the alternative girl!  Brands like Victoria’s Secret have shat all over the female sports fan image with a limited amount of sassy and suggestive screen tees that a seemingly 1 in 3 fan girls seem to be wearing at Wrigley and Soldier Field, like a land of the clones.

Yes, Lindsey Vecchione owns this look, but it doesn't mean everybody should!

This is not a far stretch from female sports fans out and about!
Yes, Lindsey Vecchione owns this look, but it doesn’t mean everybody should!

Not going to lie, Vicky and her web of secrets,  put out some rad sequin hats and jackets, but the t-shirts, I could do without! As for the United Center teams, the Bulls and the Blackhawks, women dress up a little more. I have already beaten the poor Hawkstitutes as if they were my own dead horse, so you already know how I feel about the Blackhawks female fashions. As a girl into alternative style, and simply not looking like everyone else, I like to get creative with my sports fashion. Sexy and flirty wear for sporting events are just fine, but I want the fan gear to represent ME and MY style, not look identical to the thousands of female fans in the one of 3 Victoria’s Secret t-shirt options!

No Thank You!

No, I'm sorry, I'm not the halftime show ...

No, I’m sorry, I’m not the halftime show …

So enough of my bitching, I am going to show you how to dress for your teams with a unique and alternative edge. The looks I have created are still edgy, sexy, girly and fun, but you will be able to wear it with individuality while remaining true to your everyday style. Tio Trash model, Jasmine, will show us how its’ done!

BASEBALL: Cubs or Sox? The choice is yours. You are going to want a summer outfit that will beat the heat!

I love leather and metal jewelry. In an outdoor summer event, leather isn’t going to be the best option so it’s all about smart accessorizing. H&M is selling these great sheer baseball jersey style tops with monogram Olde English lettering. I chose the “B” (for Beth) in black.

Studded Wedge Sneakers from Target.

As far as accessories, I added a plain black pleather baseball hat (Target), and silver metal costume jewelry to match the studded black wedge sneakers (Target). This outfit would look great with any outrageous hat, (preferably one that matches your team colors) and lots of solid chunky metal; silver or gold.

Sexy White Sox Fan

Sexy and Swaggin’.

I myself wouldn’t be brave enough for the short shorts I dressed Jasmine in, I prefer to wear it with longer white jean shorts, or leggings if the weather permits. But if you have a body like Jasmine, the booty shorts are a fun way to make it sexy!

Bundle Up for the Bears!

I am one happy girl when the weather and the occasion will allow me to wear my leather jacket and combat boots. Why not bring em’ out for da Bears! For all of you grunge girls, there is no better sporting event to get grungy for than a football game. Although it will be too cold for tights at Soldier Field by November, these orange tights are a way to have fun with fan color.

Add some sass to the sexy Blackhawks fan style.

Not unlike a Hawkstitute, I styled Jasmine in some tight clothes and high shoes. However, I made sure it was blinged out with spikes, gold chains and fun prints. These solid black hoof wedges (from H&M) are sexy, but easy to walk in and the camo Blackhawks hat adds a splash of urban fashion fun to the look.

I paired these spiky leggings with the money print body suit by UrbanOG.com to keep some sexy shape. Megan Fox as Super Girl – She’s on board.

To get in the mood of a “Game Girl”, I had to find the perfect place to nerd out. Little did I know that an epic arcade was in my very own neighborhood of Lakeview, Chicago. The Headquarters Beercade proved to be the perfect place to play and party! From old school classics to modern faves, HQ Beercade is fully stocked with games for all fans.

Unlike regular arcades, HQ Beercade is a swanky bar/restaurant with a roomy spread of games, not crowded and insanely hot like other arcades. It is a great place to relax and/or party and is covered in old school game art with modern day accommodations. I experienced HQ on “Sunday Funday”, and the Bloody Mary’s are as EPIC as the bar itself. White Castle sliders in a Bloody Mary ??? You heard right.

Mouth watering menu, crazy drinks, friendly and fun staff, I found my new Sunday hangout! I recommend this glorious giant adult playground to anybody, not just arcade nerds.

Meet the stunning and sultry, Jeanette!

Jeanette got her game on to show you how to add flirty to nerdy to your comic clothing items. For the girly gamer, I created the “Video Game Vixen” look. If you like what you see, UrbanOG.com can hook you up with the “Knockout Vixen” skater skirt. You can dress it down with a simple crop top or tank or glam it up with sequins, leather, or metallic.

Etsy was an endless emporium for accessorizing this look. The Swank Shop  was the perfect place to choose the phonetic action sound necklaces like the electric blue “Pow” necklace Jeanette is wearing.

Additionally, in any search for gamer goodies, you MUST visit ATOMIC LACE, a Tio Trash favorite! From arcade finds, ninjas, unicorns, monsters and all things fantasy and fun, designer Laura Michele has a piece for you. Her “Game Over” ring (featured above), was perfect for our Video Game Vixen look! Her pieces are feminine but fierce, simple but strong, and gory, girly, and geeky all in one!

For the more intense gamer girl, I created a look that will keep you covered and show all the boys that you are here to win, “The Arcade Renegade”.

With the sporty “Pow Pow” top by UrbanOG.com and pants made for kicking ass, Jeanette is ready for battle. No serious gamer girl wants to haul around a purse, so I recommend a neon fanny pack, also perfect for stuffing tickets in.

The accessories for this look are meant to electrify. Atomic Lace created neon, glittery lightning bolt earrings, available in many color choices. Pixelated sun glasses will prevent your opponent from looking directly in your eyes and the “Zap Headband” by the lovely Janine Basil Pop Shop will hold back that hair in the heat of battle.

Pride Parade 2013

Better late than never, I wanted to post about my absolute favorite Chicago event, Pride Festival and Parade – Chicago Pride Parade 2013!

My poor honey .. always gettin' shot.

My poor honey .. always gettin’ shot.

Even in the few dark years that I lived in Peoria, IL, I always made it back home to Chicago  for an action packed Pride weekend! Chicago has one of the best Pride celebrations in the country! All of my friends, gay and straight, always get together to celebrate this colorful and liberating weekend every June. This past weekend was yet another successful Chicago Pride!

One of the many beauties of Chicago pride is that there are so many different types of people out to celebrate and support the LGBT community; young, old, gay, straight, Latina, small town, out of town, black, white, etc. After all, the whole point is to be proud of who you are, no matter your sexuality or personality, and show love for ALL.

My Lovah and I at Chicago 2013 Pride Parade

My Lovah and I at Chicago 2013 Pride Parade

I must becoming a grumpy old lady, but one type of Parade goer has really started to bum me out …

Don’t get me wrong, I love and appreciate my “Straight / No Hate” allies, but there has become an overwhelming amount of underage straight females who use the parade as a big photo op to showcase their barely there rainbow go go abortions of outfits. Sequin bra tops, corsets and tutus, bikinis and leg warmers, these girls are flashing A & T and all of the colors of the rainbow without the slightest clue of what they are supporting.

A group of attractive teenage girls in such outfits found a place beside my friends and I at the parade. Drunk and loud, they posed for selflies and pictures every opportunity they could asking strangers to take photos of their little duck faces and feigned sequin cleavage. None of this upset me, in fact, I usually appreciate the eye candy. What upset me was when these young ladies started yelling to one another, “What is DOMA?” and “Why does every sign say Prop 8” and “Eww that butch lady is staring at me!”

REALLY !?!?!

Then, early on in the parade, these ladies, as well as many others of the sort, hopped the parade rail and began marching in the parade with random floats, waving to the crowd as if they are part of something radical.

I don’t think this would have bothered me a few years ago as much as it did this year. This year, with the death of DOMA, has been such a pivotal year for the LGBT community and human rights, and I feel offended that such a large number of people would come to the Parade where the community is celebrating these victories, and not know what DOMA is, Prop 8 is, and feeling skeived out when a person of the same sex checks out your exposed ass and stomach.

Ok … angry lesbian rant over. Now time for fashion and fun!

I understand that not just ignorant twats don the tutu and sequin bra look – it’s a great look for the Pride Parade and its all about looking like YOU! But if you know me, you know I am casual and I appreciate originality. I like to be comfortable and practical in situations where it is hot and crowded, but you still have to be cute.

I copped out on a cute outfit this year due to a recent pizza related weight gain … hahaha … but maybe I will be able to rock one of these looks at Chicago Pride 2014, as can you!

My Favorite Pride Picks

My Favorite Pride Picks!

Despite me being a hater on the uniformed youngins’ and my mildly hypocritical rant, Pride was a beautiful success. I ALWAYS get teary and mushy when the Proud Parents march by as well as the organized religions showing love and support. Pride isn’t just for the gays, it is for everybody to really think about self love and being yourself. We all have struggles, no matter what our walk of life, and we all need to be proud of who we are and never hide what makes you YOU.

Chicago Blackhawks Win

Congrats Chicago Blackhawks!

Today is an exciting day in Chicago! For anyone living under a rock, THE CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS WON THE STANLEY CUP last night! It was a tough season with an amazing ending! The team that brought hockey back to life won it all – AGAIN! I am so proud to be a Chicagoan and a Blackhawks fan today, so you know I have to post about this victory. Now on to the fashion!

The Blackhawk’s victory parade will be this Friday! It will be a never ending sea of joy, beer, cheers, and the color red. The victory parties will likely continue down clark street all week and weekend! You are definitely going to want to show your Blackhawks pride, but you don’t have to diminish in the mass of red, I will show you some ways you can dress up your Blackhawk’s gear and stand out in the crowd!

It is going to be hot and crowded, and by crowded I mean over the estimated 1.5 million people! Ladies, save yourself the hair drama and snag a great Blackhawks hat. I rarely leave home without my camo Blackhawks  hat, but I have found a few cute ones, just for you girly girls.

Zephyr Blackhawks hat - Blackhawks Party Outfit

Zephyr Blackhawks hat – Blackhawks Party Outfit

This is one of my absolute favorite Blackhawks hats that I have seen out there. The lime green will ensure your friends won’t lose you, and you can still rep that Chicago Pride. Femme it up with floral and heels, or if you are like me, it is all about denim shorts and Air Force Ones.

Usually Chicago sports wear is easy to find in pink. I love pink, but I actually don’t care for the full on pink Blackhawks gear. However, I found a great hat, with that little pop of pink for the super femme fan. You can be a fun, flirty mascot by wearing some Native American pow wow glam!

My last look rocks that South Side gangsta swag with some fun Blackhawks stunna shades (available on Etsy) for a girly ghetto fab look. Mix and match your black and reds with funky gold jewelry, a Blackhawks statement accessory, and some sexy heels (ones you can walk in!!)

Be a Chicago Blackhawks Flaming Hot Girl!

I featured all cross body bags with these looks because this post victory Chicago is going to be MADNESS, so keep your belongings close to you and leave credit cards at home!

I want to see your Blackhawks victory outfits! Post to Instagram, #TioTrash – I will post my faves!

May you all be as fashion forward as Jonathan Toews beautiful girlfriend, Lindsey Vecchione, a girl who aces Chicago style.

Rave Erryday

Channel Your Inner Raver in Your Everyday Life!

Raves are back, and not in the way we remember them from the 90’s. They are still full of the  frontal lobe destructive party favors, free love, and awesome music, but a key difference in today’s Rave underworld is the iconic fantastica of whimsical, colorful, imaginative rave wear and the visual arts that go into a great show.

EDC Wear

Chicago is a buzz with the infamous Electric Daisy Carnival this weekend. While I am no raver myself, nor do I condone teens slurping down large amounts of Molly , I am totally inspired and in aw of the beautiful artistic presentation, dress, and unity that is found at shows like EDC.

Girls come up with amazing, colorful, and imaginative outfits, usually in the form of a tutu/bra/leg warmer combo, but fabulous of course.

EDC Outfits

Unfortunately, you are not going to see my old ass at a Rave or an EDM show anytime soon (yes, I’m only 26, but I feel like Rave life has an early expiration date), but I can appreciate the youthful style and spirit of imagination that goes into the clothing. If you love EDM, the rave scene, or have that creative free spirit, I have found some ways for you to “Rave it up” in your everyday wear.  Think neon, rainbows, bright lights, and fantasy, and you have the right style in mind!
